Business Developer, North America

--W4 Games - Remote (COMP1100952)--

We're looking for a Business Developer to build our pipeline in North America (US, Canada). You'll own early-stage relationships with game studios, publishers, and technology companies that fit W4's professional services and products.

A lot of the work we do centers on performance optimization, engine customization, and platform enablement. Our inbound professional services business has been solid, and you will help us establish and grow our outbound strategy. You'll build relationships with potential clients, bring in technical experts as needed to evaluate the opportunity and determine the best technical approach, and work with C-level leadership to shape the proposal. You'll have the latitude to decide where the effort goes.

What you build here will shape how business development works at W4. This position reports to the COO.

What you'll be doing

  • Growing our pipeline through outbound prospecting and by improving how we handle inbound.
  • Qualifying opportunities and bringing in technical leads at the right moment.
  • Shaping proposals alongside our technical and executive teams.
  • Representing W4 at industry events and maintaining relationships over time, not just around active deals.
  • Refining our ICP and surfacing patterns from what you see in the market.
  • Working across games and, where relevant, adjacent verticals like industrial real-time 3D.

Required

  • 3 to 6 years of business development or sales experience in the games industry, with a track record of closing six-figure engagements at a small to mid-size company.
  • Existing relationships with studios, publishers, or platform partners in North America.
  • Technical enough to hold a credible first conversation with an engineering buyer. You don't need to go deep, but you can't be lost.
  • Experience with a CRM, or a genuine commitment to making one central to how you work.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and organized. You manage your own pipeline and your own time.
  • Willing to travel for conferences, customer meetings, and team gatherings. We estimate around 25 percent of your time, though this could vary.

Recommended

  • Background in middleware, professional services, or technical consulting sales.
  • Experience in a B2B startup environment.

About

W4 Games was founded by the leadership of the Godot Engine project to help the industries that depend on real-time technology reclaim control of it. We give companies the freedom to innovate that comes with an in-house engine, without needing an in-house engine team.

Games are where we started and where our expertise runs deepest, but we believe open source technology belongs in every industry, and we work well beyond games today.

Our products and services let teams get the most out of Godot and ship with confidence.

Equal Opportunity

W4 Games is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing an open, collaborative and friendly work environment and does not discriminate based on gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, language proficiency, age, political orientation, nationality, religion or other similar characteristics.

Hiring and Location

All members of the W4 Games team work remotely. This position is open to candidates in North America.

This is a full-time independent contractor engagement. The initial contract runs one year, with the option to renew. W4 covers all travel costs.

Compensation is fixed, with no commission component. Our sales cycles run long, and we care more about the quality of an engagement than its size, so we'd rather not have you chasing deals that aren't a fit.

Why Join Us

  • Work with technology that millions of developers use, in a company built to make open source viable commercially.
  • Sell work that solves hard problems for studios shipping commercial products.
  • Wide latitude. You'll run your own pipeline your own way, with direct access to leadership when you need a decision.
  • We’re small enough that your work is visible. We're growing quickly, but you'll still know everyone here.
  • Flexible hours. We're spread across many timezones and work async by default, so we care about what you deliver rather than when you're online.
  • A remote team that gets together in person. We fly the whole company out for company gatherings.
